I know it's been a little while since, but I wanted to check in on you. You handled everything well, but now that things are quiet, I want to make sure that's still true.

Checking up on me, hm? I'm doing just fine. Looking a little worse for wear, I suppose, but that's bound to happen.

How about you, how are you holding up?

Do I lose points for worrying? I'll make my case, but instead, let's accept it's something friends can do?

But I was worried. You handled it well, but I can't imagine it being easy, even for someone more experienced.

I'm well enough, considering. I'm not sleeping as well as I'd like, but I know it will come in time.

I wasn't giving out points in the first place, so I suppose there's none to lose.

It's never easy, but if it becomes something akin to being routine, it's easier to go back to things as normal.

It always does. Until things normalise, do you know if they have any sort of sleep medicines or anything here? If you're having trouble, it might be a thing to look into.

Is it so routine for you? I'm not sure how much it's safe to ask. I know it's not something you'd actively want to speak about very much.

I've tried, but sadly, human medication is very hit and miss for me. Some painkillers work, but I haven't found a sleep aid that's done the job. I think the capture is just still very recent.

I know, I just chose to ignore it in a semi-humorous fashion.

I had resistance training, in the SAS. And then when I was captured, it lasted months, which became a sort of routine in itself. It's not like I get tortured every other day or so. I've just had enough of it to, well, deal with it in such a way.

Someone really needs to beef these things up for monster purposes. I'd say perhaps just try staying awake long enough your body can only sleep, but that's not exactly the most healthy of options.

We'll somebody make it a point where we won't have to explain our jokes. Text does force some loss of communication.

Did the resistance training really help? My focus was in law enforcement more than military. It feels difficult to imagine being prepared for what happened.

Some monsters can take human medication without problem. I've just not been lucky enough to be one of them. I do still sleep, but it's only a few hours at a time. There's been some improvement, and I expect there will be over time. If I can handle the sleeplessness at its worst, I'm no longer worried now that it's gotten somewhat better.

I can only imagine the lengths we'll have to go to make things obvious.

Let me know what to expect, sure. Obviously there's only a certain point where it all means nothing, but it certainly gave me a bit of a perspective, let's say. It's quite brutal.

I did get some ointment for my face a while back, and that helped a bit, but I don't know how I'd react to anything bigger in terms of medications. I sort of tend to just tough it out.

Things are never as good as I'd prefer them to be. And I am exactly the type who prefers to handle himself. Apologies for seeming a bit harsh on things, but that's the way things have gone for quite some time now.

I've dealt with it. I still deal with it.

That's one method. We can also assume each other especially amusing and take most things as a joke.

I don't doubt your abilities, and I know there's some pride in handling things yourself. I won't come in after a life as harsh as yours and pretend I know things better than you do. You've lived it, and I've only recently gotten my first, and hopefully last, experience in the torture.
